Limbs For Life - The Ability Fund
$25k enables a life-changing transformation
Our Mission
The Limbs for Life Foundation was established in 1995. Prosthetist John A. Sabolich saw a need to assist amputees who did not have insurance coverage for prosthetics.
Since its inception, Limbs for Life has provided thousands of new prosthetic limbs to amputees across the United States.
We provide a financial bridge between amputees and the quality prosthetic care they need to restore their lives.
The Ability Fund represents our first foray into upper-limb coverage.
The Challenge
Traditional advanced prosthetics cost $100,000-$150,000
Many insurance providers deny coverage
Growing waitlist of individuals in need
Limited access creates devastating impact on quality of life

17-year old, Ivan Krastev
Meet Ivan, who will be the first person to receive a hand through the Ability Fund
Ivan Krastev is a dedicated 17-year-old junior at Gompers Preparatory Academy in San Diego, whose story is marked by resilience and an interest in robotics and prosthetic technology. Born with one hand, Ivan has embraced his journey with the support of mentors like his teacher, Mr. Bentz, who has encouraged him to develop confidence and pursue his passions.
Ivan’s fascination with technology took off after meeting former NASA pilot Mark Pestana. Skilled in high-speed drone piloting, Ivan continues to dive into robotics, even collaborating with friends on projects like creating a 3D-printed hand.
Potential Candidate, Randi: Breaking Barriers in Healthcare
Randi's Story: A Life of Determination
"Hi! My name is Randi-Morgan (southern, double first name). I am a mom, a wife, and a pediatric occupational therapist! I was born without a left arm below the elbow, but it has never held me back! I have found ways to adapt and overcome throughout my life, which is why I became an occupational therapist, to help teach others to do so. I love being creative and coming up with adaptive ways for others to achieve their goals.
